A new online training module on human trafficking

On the occasion of the 2025 European Anti-Trafficking Day, the first version of the e-learning training module, “Recognising, Referring, and Supporting Victims of Human Trafficking”, was released.

The module was developed in conjunction with the ‘Speaking Portraits’ (Portraits parlants), which in 2025 brought together eight victims or survivors of human trafficking. Their creations -some of which serve to illustrate this document- are compiled in a booklet  displaying their work. Moreover, in an additional podcast these individuals explain, in their own words, the process in which they have been involved through this project.

Version 1: free navigation
allows you to present a specific chapter during a face-to-face meeting without scrolling through the entire module.
From the outset, learners can view any part in the order they wish.

Version 1: constrained navigation requires the entire module to be completed in order;
version for digital training platforms, for example.
Learners must view the content in order. Once viewed for the first time, any part can be accessed via the table of contents.

This module is primarily intended for volunteers and employees of our associations who are new to the field or unfamiliar with human trafficking and are likely to encounter victims; it can also be shared with our partner associations and institutions (social workers, educators, youth workers, police, justice, health and education professionals, etc.).

This e-learning module is designed to enable volunteers or employees who encounter vulnerable people in reception centres, drop-in centres, outreach programmes, etc. to better identify victims of trafficking and thus better guide and support them.

Each association can use and/or share this tool with other partners so that this module can be posted on their website or training platform.

This does not replace face-to-face training, which remains the preferred option.
Nor does it replace the specialised training courses that various organisations have been contributing to for years and which are indispensable.

The Disaster Ready platform presented the module during the Olympic Games last year and will offer it again this year. While the previous version was only available in French, this time, it is available both in French and English.

This module (Version 1) will be evaluated in the coming months to determine areas for improvement.
Everyone is invited to send their suggestions for improvement to contre.la.traite@secours-catholique.org.

For technicians, the SCORM 2024 files for both modules are available on request.
